I found this book rather dull. Though it was well written as far as the writing goes, the story dragged too often. Page after page of characters wandering through the wilderness. It rather reminded me of Lord of The Rings in that respect. I did not enjoy the heavy chunks of history presented as stories told by several of the characters. The love story subplot fell completely flat with me. I felt no chemistry between those two particular characters. I didn't care about any of the characters or the story itself. With nothing vested in the outcome, I struggled to read this book all the way through and was actually relieved that it ended. I have no intention of looking for the next one.

Having read the entire series I can confidently say that this is undoubtedly the best fantasy series I have ever read. If my memory serves, there about 13 books following this. Each better than the previous.

10/10 - If you like fantsy worlds this is the beginning of an unforced adventure.
